Handmade Books

My design teacher has started me on yet another addictive project; handmade books. I had to make one on the elements and principles of design and then I learned how to make a 'lotus fold' book which promptly took on a life of it's own and soon became a portable family tree. Complete with name plates and a pen and tag closure. It has turned out so beyond my expectations and I just love it. I hope it becomes a treasured family heirloom that my girls will keep and pass on to their kids. I am also making an altered book out of a child's board book. It is going to have a Halloween theme, I think. I have many other books in mind as well and even ordered a book on hand-making books. It is a process with which I have really fallen in love and I feel like I have so many ideas just starting to pour out of me. It seems like a wonderful creative way to just let the creativity take flight so that's what I am going to let it do. I will post photos of some of them when they are finished and keep everyone posted. Happy Easter, everyone!
